they dont call it a sweatshop for nothing

wow, was it hot for october yesterday.  mom came in to her dining room to help me sew in the afternoon, and commented that it was very warm in there (it was over 80 degrees yesterday on the outer banks), to which i replied to her the title of this post.  more sewing today!  have a sample of each pillow constructed so that when i get back from Tobago i can shop them around to stores...

dont you hate it when you are underwater in your retro scuba gear and an octopus with 7 tentacles sneaks up behind you and scares the crap outta you?  me too.

waiting..

I have fabrics ordered and now I'm just waiting to receive them.  Still need to find a 6-7oz (lightweight) canvas for the fronts.  Hopefully I can find something this weekend in Wilmington.   Mom helped me test screens yesterday..the prints look great!  Thanks mom.  Also started to print hangtags yesterday..wanted to throw the printer off my porch but managed to keep our relationship civilized.  For now.

Holiday Merchandising Mix 2

This is my plan for the Aqua/Lime/Grey Colorway for Holiday 2010 Pillows.   The Swirl design is borrowed from a vintage Norwegian textile, which I was originally sourcing for a project for my dad.  The Octopi and Aquaman are inspired by my beach location - though I never have seen an octopus in the North Carolina waters.  I do, however, always see scuba men walking around.  Always.

Holiday Merchandising Mix 1

This is my plan for the Red/Black/Gold Colorway for holiday pillows.  Ordering fabrics now...if all goes well they will be in stores before Thanksgiving week!
The Starfish print is a variation on my 'star' obsession, and the Powerlines print is inspired by the view from my roof deck.
